Sense Sonnet - Pumper
Taiga
The taiga, a vast forest in
Subarctic northern regions, cold,
Mostly evergreens of thick skin,
And strong roots able to take hold
In the soil, which often does freeze,
With few nutrients therein found,
But enough for evergreen trees
To survive and to hold their ground.
When permafrost in the soil thaws,
Taiga forests can appear drunk,
Leaning in staggered ways, because
Unfreezing ground around has sunk.
So taiga soil does cause to be
Lots of timber to lean tipsy.
