 Mother Volga

On Mother Volga River, I

Do be a boatman my life long,

And for my family is why.

My job has made me proud and strong.

Upon the barges, up and down,

Mother Volga I do my work,

Passing many a farm and town.

Often so tired, but never shirk

My helping make the barges flow

Through the vast Russian Motherland,

Upon her waters, to and fro,

The life I've grown to understand.

The Mother Volga River be

The time and place for boatman, me.
