Sense Sonnet - Pumper
Best Gift
Just he and I, my early life.
A carpenter, our home he built.
He gave solace from stress and strife,
Taught me the traps of shame and guilt
Could be avoided if I chose
To strive to do the right and good,
Even though difficult such goes,
He gave assurance that I could.
A better person I would live
From all that from him I received.
In his nature to truly give,
More love he gave, more I believed.
Last words to me on his deathbed,
"You are my best gift," my Dad said.
