 Sermon Cancelled

The holy water turned to ice,

When the church's heater went out.

The pastor thought this not too nice,

Could not asperge ice cubes, no doubt.

So the pastor decided to

Light a folded newspaper, and

A thawing of holy water do,

As quickly as he could by hand.

The folded newspaper he fired,

Unfolded, flew, disaster came,

Not what the pastor had desired,

Burning papers set church aflame.

The pastor, quite unhappily,

Saw the church now in ashes be.
