If I could be a pirate, I

Would not be one with a hand hook,

Would not be one with a patched eye,

Would not be one with peg leg look.

If I could be a pirate, give

Me a fine ship that flies the flag

Of skull and crossbones, where I'd live

And feel so free to cuss and brag.

If I could be a pirate, well

I'd have a parrot who could talk.

I'm greatest parrot, it would tell,

Or else the plank I'd make it walk.

If I could be a pirate, gee,

Wonder if the folks would ground me!
