 Franz in the Pyrenees

Franz Schrader was a mountaineer.

He walked and mapped the Pyrenees.

Mountains 'tween France and Spain appear

To have beckoned young Franz to seize

Many an opportunity

To hike all foothills and peaks to

Fully connect with the beauty,

Found and placed in paintings he'd do.

Thousands of miles hiked up and down

Rugged terrain, below, above,

A Pryreneist of renown,

Part of the mountains he did love.

Buried in the Pyrenees on

A slope, Franz still gazes upon.
