 The Roots of Love

Trees learned a lesson long ago.

In wintertime when leaves are gone,

Less nutrients from sun and so

A dormancy the trees go on,

But still need some food so to live.

In the beginning, trees would be

Selfish with their food, and not give

To others of their kind, needy.

And many died as a result.

The trees then learned their lesson of

Sharing was not that difficult.

From root to root went food with love.

Tree roots, love of nature designed,

Lesson yet learned by humankind.
