Sense Sonnet - Pumper
"Methuselah"
The most extraordinary life
I've had which I appreciate.
Avoiding most of human strife,
I'm left alone to contemplate
The forty plus centuries that
I've lived in California high,
In harsh mountainside habitat,
Ten thousand feet into the sky.
I don't grow too tall or too fast,
About an inch a century.
Nature's gifted me a long past.
I cherish now that's given me.
"Methuselah," human name mine
Given to this bristlecone pine.
