Sense Sonnet - Acher
Their New Year Tradition
For fifty years for each New Year
They celebrated the same way,
One glass of wine each they would cheer
Their lives together, as the day
Of new began at old's midnight
They'd gaze into each other's face
In the warm glow of candlelight,
Sharing in toast in time and place,
As the Victrola played once more
For them the song of "Auld Lang Syne,"
Grateful for all love shared before,
Now and coming, will of divine.
I keep the tradition they had
For each New Year for Mom and Dad.
