Sense Sonnet - Tickler
Lesson on Semicolon Use
I started writing poetry.
Often my best critic sat near,
Sonnet, the house cat, watching me.
Early, taught me a lesson dear.
I used semicolons a lot,
Not knowing if used wrong or right,
But looked brainy, or so I thought.
Then Sonnet growled upon their sight,
Letting me know they should be gone.
Sonnet just did not understand.
Semicolons stayed, whereupon
I still have a scar on my hand.
The pause at the end of the clause
Brought claws from the end of the paws.
