Nehalennia, goddess of

Safe passage throughout the North Sea.

Travelers prayed to her above

For good sailing in hopes that she

Would look upon their ships with grace,

Calming treacherous waters so

The ships could reach their destined place,

Letting ships come, letting ships go.

Not only living prayed to her.

Nehalennia also would

Provide protection to assure

Journey of the dead to be good.

The North Sea under her control,

For any living or dead soul.
