Sense Sonnet - Pumper
Burrowers on the Prairie
Prairie dogs, the humans call us,
Becuz of barking sounds we make.
We're really squirrels, but we don't fuss
About the humans' wrong namesake.
We live in burrows underground,
Which we dig with very sharp claws.
We live where grasses do abound,
Eat with lawnmower teeth that awes.
Coyotes, snakes and big birds be
Main predators that cause us harm.
When seeing or hearing them, we
Sound out a which one bark alarm.
Inside, outside, we love to play,
Party animals night and day.
