Sense Sonnet - Acher

 Siege of Syracuse

The siege of Syracuse did last

Longer than the Romans had planned.

Some great defenses were amassed.

Wise Archimedes had a hand.

He devised a huge "claw' which took

The Roman ships out of the sea,

Dangled in the air by the hook,

Then dropped,  and smashed the ships did be.

The inventor made a huge mirror,

Reflecting sun on Roman sails,

Causing the ships to burn severe.

In the end Archimedes fails.

Roman Marcellus praised him skilled,

But Archimedes still was killed.
