Sense Sonnet - Chiller

 Compelling

An old dead tree is hollowed out.

Holes in the trunk do show a face

With eyes and nose and mouth no doubt.

I feel being watched in this place.

There are no sounds of bug or bird

Anywhere on or 'round this tree.

All in all, scary is the word,

As though the tree does grin at me.

I take a picture on my phone,

Something to show later for fun.

Then suddenly I hear a moan.

Instinct tells me that I should run.

I watch the tree mouth open wide.

I am compelled to step inside.
