Sense Sonnet - Tickler

 Clock Talk

I am a clock upon a pole

That's sitting on a city street.

I no longer have much a role,

With all those smart phones that compete.

But I still have my time and place.

Lots of folks still look up at me,

And see my Roman numeraled face,

While waiting for their dogs to pee.

There is a restaurant nearby

With outside tables, so I hear

Some juicy gossip on the fly.

I'm sure I saw Elvis appear.

I hear that some clocks get to chime,

But all I do is tell the time.
