"A Cry From the Far Middle" by

P.J. O'Rourke pokes left and right,

Both with mad excesses as why

The U.S.A. is mired in plight.

Mr. O'Rourke expresses fret

Hysteria from both sides mix,

And only agree on more debt

In future be damned politics.

The old just feud, so will the young

Bring the nation some competence,

Some compromise, some civil tongue,

Some purpose shared in common sense?

Voice of wit and wisdom does cease.
