Sense Sonnet - Acher

 Games

Young compete in Olympic games,

While old do play games of their own,

Using the time and place for aims,

Outcomes of which are not yet known.

Winning the gold for young does be

The ultimate for that young life.

But for old, politically,

Winnings measured by stirring strife

In adversaries 'round the world.

Back and forth, accusings are cried,

And forth and back charges are hurled.

Nobody wins on any side.

Briefly young worth is given light,

Then back to same old, same old fight.
