 When I Was A Fish ...

When I was a fish, I thought

Such great thoughts that did go beyond

Just how to avoid getting caught

By would be catchers at my pond.

I would think of how I was part

Of the whole of the universe.

For the moment I was the heart

Of time and place, better or worse.

I was the living power that

In the now played the leading role

On the stage of my habitat,

As long as I maintained control.

When I was a fish - a thinker,

Till came that hook, line and sinker.
