A baby wood turtle does do
Concentration on having lunch
Here at home in Lincoln Park Zoo.
Upon a waxworm he does munch.
This is part of a diet that
Will help the wood turtle grow well
And healthy in the habitat,
In time and place under his shell.
To chew, does the turtle have teeth?
No, instead he has a sharp beak,
And mashes the worm underneath,
An efficient eating technique.

In small  pieces the worm does be
Swallowed, tummy bound - turtlely.
