A snowy owl - female or male?
Coloration tells them apart,
In a lot of feather detail,
Both plumages a work of art.
All young are white with speckles black,
And the females do stay that way.
Adult males - such speckles do lack,
Turning to white and white to stay.
This snowy owl does be a she,
An adult, Freya, posing here.
And her mate, Stanley, is a he,
No doubt Stanley is somewhere near.

Soulmates Freya and Stanley do
Live here at the Lincoln Park Zoo.
