Sense Sonnet - Pumper

Shipworm

A shipworm the humans call me,
Cuz I like to bore into wood.
Really, saltwater clam I be,
A yard long when really grown good.
I have two shell valves at one end,
Which I use to burrow into
The wood, then bacteria lend
Help - digest cellulose, they do.
The bacteria and their waste
Provide me with nutrition fine.
Of course, I have no tongue to taste,
But eating's not a must of mine.

"Termite of the sea" - I am nicknamed.
More news of me, I wood be famed.
