Powder Horn Detail

A way back in the olden day
An ox or cow gave up a horn,
So humans with guns had a way
For dry gun powder to be borne.
Over the shoulder on a strap,
A man made plug on each horn end,
The aim to avoid a mishap,
With bad results that such could send.
Besides having utility,
Owners engraved so as to make
Unique fashion accessory,
At least a name for I.D. sake.

Though the gun owners long be gone,
In museums some horns live on.
