If Bit Have Wit

A scarlet king snake is my name,
Multi colored from tail to head,
Of shiny scales, my body frame -
Black and white and yellow and red.
Oft confused with the coral, my cuz,
Venomous, while I be mellow.
If bit, here is the rhyme that does -
Red on yellow, kill a fellow.
But red on black, venom it lack.
So if I bite you, some time give
To note my bands be red on black.
Hopefully, you will let me live.

Just don't fret much if I bite you.
