Sense Sonnet - Pumper

All a Round

The Founding Fathers learned quite quick
That voters needed incentive.
More likely the voter would pick
The candidate with booze to give.
George Washington first gave no booze,
When House of Burgess seat he sought.
That first election, George did lose.
George learned that voters wanted sot,
So next election, George did win,
With an assortment of appeal -
Whisky and rum and beer and gin,
And George got voted in with zeal.

Booze elected George Washington.
Today he could make a pot run.
