Solomon Northrup

Solomon Northrup was born free,
Grew up playing the violin,
Got kidnapped into slavery,
Twelve years away from loving kin,
Who found Solomon and worked to
Restore him to his life by right.
A lucky one - and there were few.
As black, he could not sue a white.
He wrote a book about his times,
And travelled in the north U.S.
Fighting against slavery crimes,
A little, but not much success.

Enslaved again? The worst was feared.
Solomon Northrup disappeared.
