Sense Sonnet - Steamer

Frankly, Barney

Bye bye Barney - been there done that,
For decades the famous House gay,
Ever dishing cheeky chit chat
In stereotyped lispy way.
Sometimes a grouch, sometimes a wit,
Sometimes both in a rumpled pack,
Making a point, throwing a fit,
Hailed as hero and damned as quack.
You chairmanned melted down finance,
Pointing fingers, covering butt,
Tip toeing in a tricky dance,
Till off your twinkle toes got cut.

Bye bye Barney, but to be Frank,
Not sure why you're a gay to thank.
