You departed Thanksgiving Day,
Leaving your loving family.
But thank you Maggie for your stay.
Chicago's heart you'll always be.
The Daley boys and men made life
An ever challenge for you, sure,
But you were more than the mayor's wife.
You were Chicago, true and pure,
Helping the city's beauty show
In arts and in the hopes of youth.
And even though that you now go,
Your legacy remains in truth.
