Sense Sonnet - Acher

They Talk My Walk

I am a poor black kid. I am
Hard inner city born and bred.
Far off future - who gives a damn?
Odds are I'm gonna be young dead.
School is just a waste of time place.
I feel like a lab rat to test.
I'm just part of a new slave race
For gov to screw like gov does best.
Most white adults think they're so wise,
Can tell a poor black kid like me.
A bit of truth among the lies,
And lie that truth will set me free.

Street wisdom tells me it's fool's play
To buy in what white adults say.
