Sense Sonnet - Pumper

Be Four Coming

The youth of America knew
When the Beatles came to the States,
Their music and manner would do
A crashing of the old floodgates
That had kept the youth cushioned in
The shadow of the older set -
Depression to end, war to win.
Youth had no self destiny yet.
The Beatles gave youth its own form,
One that parents could not mold
Into the same old, same old norm.
Instead the youth grew Beatles bold.

The critics dismissed, "No! No! No!"
"Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" the Beatles sang so.
