Sense Sonnet - Acher

Time Gone By

Dad built me out of scraps of wood,
Soon after the family came.
I remember it felt so good
To be a part of play and game
Of the children, who gave me heart
To know I was a special place
For each kid, and I was a part
Of their childhood in time and space.
But then there came the loneliness.
The kids grew up and went away.
It was so sad to be useless,
Rotting slowly each day by day.

A treehouse has no need to be
Without a kid to play in me.
