Sense Sonnet - Acher

Move on

We grew up in this neighborhood,
And lived next door for all these years.
We were best buddies, bad or good,
Sharing the laughter and the tears.
We were joined like Siamese twins,
Shoulder to shoulder, hardly apart.
We took on all the outs and ins,
Finishing whatever we'd start.
We had to cut the ties today.
Neither one of us did approve.
We split. One would leave. One would stay.
Sometimes people have to move.

Mom says I'll find a new best friend.
But that does not make my hurt end.
