Remains

The skull is kept as evidence
Of a murder 12 years ago.
A girl committed the offense.
Convicted, she sits on death row.
She murdered another young girl,
She thought was stealing her boyfriend.
Her hateful fury did unfurl,
Crushing the skull with a rock's end;
Taking a piece of bone with her,
Hung on a chain around her neck,
Found when her arrest did occur.
A piece of that life she did wreck.

When the skull gets legal release,
Then my daughter can rest in piece.
