Sense Sonnet - Chiller

Odds Are

Las Vegas was not far away
From the nuclear bomb test site.
It was a hot and sunny day.
Beneath the desert blew the might.
The power burst in sight and sound,
And shook like hell the hard, deep black.
A test of terror underground,
It opened up a surface crack,
To let the poison pack expend
Across the helpless desert sand.
A deadly wave went with the wind,
Heading to hit the promised land.

Las Vegas, of high stakes renown,
Got gambled into a ghost town.
