Sense Sonnet - Steamer

 Lady Waiting

A woman standing in the rain

On a wet platform waiting for

The arrival of the last train,

Painting idea I did adore.

Since I could not afford to pay

A professional model, I

Tried to think of a cheaper way.

And so approached her with a lie,

Convincing her to pose for me,

Promising a diamond bracelet,

I knew would never come to be.

Needless to say, she was upset.

This painting caused me stress and strife,

Much harsh scorn from my rain soaked wife.
