Sense Sonnet - Acher
Poe in Silence
"Silence," a sonnet written by
Edgar Allan Poe did portray
Joy or sorrow that can apply,
And different as night and day.
The sorrowful side of silence seemed
That which Poe identified with.
Stress of fame and riches he dreamed,
Poe felt in silence were just myth.
Silence was time Poe thought how bad
And not good his life had become,
So when in silence Poe felt sad,
Always often, never welcome.
Perhaps the silence his death brought
Gave Poe some joy his life had not.
