Sense Sonnet - Pumper

 The Spruce Goose

Eccentric Howard Hughes built me,

A huge airplane in World War II.

Entirely made of wood I be,

Metal was scarce in wartime, true.

Nicknamed the Spruce Goose, cutesy rhyme,

(Though really made of birch, don't tell,)

The largest aircraft at the time.

But took so long to build, oh well,

No need for me, the war was done.

In '47 Hughes took flight

In me, the first and only one,

A wood plane, no more appetite.

In Oregon I can be found,

Evergreen Museum, on ground.
