Sense Sonnet - Acher
Romance of Poe
"Romance," a poem Poe did write
In respite from horror and gore
Makes romance for him much more light,
First as a parakeet before
Poe had matured and still a child,
Teaching him the words to belie
While being in such woods so wild.
But when Poe's older, unknown why,
Romance into a condor turned,
Aggressively pursuing Poe,
Instilling a passion that burned,
Perhaps something he should not know.
So Poe concluded with his rhyme,
Romance flew at him like a crime.
