Sense Sonnet - Pumper
My Safe Haven
Early morn I hear awful sound,
Blare of horn and gallop of horse,
Hail of human and howl of hound.
It's another fox hunt of course.
So to the lake I hurry to,
And swim to old stump of a tree.
Then upon this safe spot I do
Be watching the fish watching me.
A time and place I know quite well
As past safe haven for this one
Who comes here for a while to dwell
Till the current fox hunt is done.
I fall asleep safe out of bounds,
And dream this fox is chasing hounds.
