Sense Sonnet - Acher
Dog Days
"Dog Days" of summer is a phrase
Coined from old Roman and Greek lore
About July through August days
Filled with superstition galore.
Sirius, the dog star, be blamed
For causing hottest summer heat.
Female passion would be inflamed,
But male lethargy could not meet,
As rising temperatures be had.
Toll taken on humanity.
The rising temperaments be bad,
And lots of bickering there be.
Dog star, Sirius, would delight
Watching suffering from its bite.
