Edward the First, the English king,

Ordered the castle built to be

With octagonal towering,

A quite impressive sight to see.

In style of Roman empire old,

As middle ages structures went,

It was a marvel to behold,

And the message of strength was sent.

As the castle came on display,

Often king Edward came to stay.
