Sense Sonnet- Acher

Headless

A young French sculptor, I was known

For my skill in morbidity,

Carving departed into stone

As a body did look to be.

Thanks to the revolution, I

Never did have to look too far

For dead body model supply.

An invention made more bizarre,

The heads removed by guillotine.

I went to the main square that day,

And sketched the body of the Queen,

Her head quickly taken away.

Carved her headless, my statuette,

As last seen Marie Antoinette.
