Be hymn first sang in time of war,

Soon became a popular pick

To sing God's glory more and more.

"Mine eyes have seen the glory of"

"The coming of the Lord," and I

Am protected under God's love,

A truth I never will deny.

God's truth is ever marching on,

Fighting the evil in this world,

A reckoning to come upon

When God's wrath is fully unfurled.

Upon this sinning earth I pray

I go with God on Judgement Day.
