Aztec Macaw
Macaw birds in the south new world
Were long worshipped in Aztec lore.
Through the skies feathered wings unfurled,
Showing stunning colors they wore
In blue and green and red and gold.
The winged creatures of nature fine,
Symbols for humans to behold
As messengers from the divine.
God Quetzalcoati deemed macaw,
Colorful plumage and beaked face
Proclaiming to Aztecs the law
To be followed in time and place.
The Aztec empire is long gone,
But macaw birds continue on.
