Mikhail Gorbachev, you were last

Leader of the U.S.S.R.,

An evil empire now of past.

More powerful than any czar,

You could have ordered weapons hurled

To keep the empire that you lead,

Causing destruction of the world,

Leaving most of humankind dead.

But you chose to do something odd.

Your mighty empire came to cease.

Though you were never man of God,

You chose God's will to further peace.
