Sense Sonnet - Acher

 Punishment

She was brought to the tribal chief,

Accused of being in the wrong,

Going against tribal belief,

Punishment needed to be strong,

As an example to the young

That old traditions were the way,

Never to be questioned by tongue.

For good of tribe, all must obey.

The tribal chief did order that

The young girl must be put to death,

Dragged through the tribal habitat,

Until there be no more life breath.

Tribal chief now without all his pomp,

Father placing daughter in the swamp.
