Sense Sonnet - Pumper
Bloomers
Activist, Amelia Bloomer,
In mid 1800's believed
Women's fashion, more than rumor,
Ill fit, needing to be relieved
Of what was tight and painful wear.
So Amelia did take the chance,
Prompted by making of a dare,
And wore what she called harem pants.
And when she would walk in the wind,
Her legs would look like parachutes.
Apprehensive she might ascend,
She weighted down with heavy boots.
The bloomers phase went on a while,
But like most fads went out of style.
