A Daughter's Quest

A teenager, Sonora Smart,

And her five younger brothers were

Raised by a Dad with a big heart.

She chose to honor him for sure.

In 1909 she began

To campaign for a Father's Day,

And over a sixty year span,

Finally she did have her way,

And in 1972

Father's Day became U.S. law.

In June of each year all Dads do

Be honored for being a Pa.

A special daughter Dad Smart had

Who spent a lifetime for her Dad.
