Sense Sonnet - Acher

Hippocampus Off

The hippocampus of the brain,
Named for a seahorse lookalike,
Forming memory - its role main
Through each one's lifespan from a tyke.
Due to illness or injury,
The hippocampus can be hurt,
Causing a loss of memory,
And time itself does go inert.
Most memories of past begone,
And oft no memories anew.
The now is all that is left on.
Living the moment must make do.

The past and future lost somehow,
Only a perpetual now.
