Great Blue Heron - LP Zoo

A great blue heron, I fish
As guest of the Lincoln Park Zoo.
At Nature Boardwalk, humans wish
Me good fishing and so I do.
No rod or reel or gear I need.
My long sharp bill does fill the bill,
Spearing many a fish indeed.
I spear and swallow whole my fill.
In shallow waters I do stand,
Favoring both the dusk and dawn,
Have patience and as Nature planned,
The fish do come, I get it on.

Plenty of fish to spear, and so
I will winter in Chicago.
