The Shakers, a religious sect,
Came to the New York colony.
Mother Ann Lee they did select
As second coming Christ to be.
She preached the giving up of sin,
Including marriage as just lust.
To get in God's good grace again,
Celibate was simply a must.
Mother Ann Lee died, but still preached
In revelations from her grave.
In time, her no sex message reached
Only a handful left to save.

The name of Shakers did come from
Wild dancing during worshipdom.
